How it Works

Our device will work in conjunction with your existing storage hot water heater and will circulate the water from that storage hot water heater past all the taps and showers in the home and back to the storage hot water heater. In a home without recirculation, when you open a hot water tap, all the cold water in the supply line will need to pass the tap before the hot water reaches the tap, and all that precious water is wasted while you are waiting for the hot water to arrive.

By running a return line from the furthest tap on the hot water supply line back to the water heater and installing a small circulating pump, hot water is circulated in the supply line and is immediately available when you turn on any hot water tap in the home.

The water is not circulated on a constant basis, but intermittent by the built-in thermostat, which will turn the circulation pump off when the hot water reaches the furthest tap and switches the pump on again when the water in the hot water supply line cools down below 35oC. See diagram below.
